For business and commercial aircraft operators looking to satisfy the ADS-B “Out” equipage rules as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, Garmin has tailored a comprehensive suite of FAA-approved ADS-B solutions that leverage existing cockpit avionics to provide an easy, efficient path to compliance.
A Simple Solution
For non-TCAS II equipped aircraft, the GTX 345R and GTX 335R series of remote-mount ADS-B transponders offer a simple, affordable 1090 MHz ADS-B “Out” solution for meeting NextGen requirements. Both models are compatible with a variety of third-party cockpit controllers and displays, allowing operators to quickly satisfy the ADS-B equipage rules with an absolute minimum of cost and downtime. If a rule-compliant position source is needed, both GTX models are optionally available with a built-in WAAS GPS receiver — so all the essentials for basic ADS-B “Out” compliance can be provided with this all-in-one remote package installation.
See the Benefits of ADS-B “In”
As a bonus, the GTX 345R transponder also makes available the subscription-free weather and traffic display capabilities enabled by ADS-B “In” — which can be interfaced with compatible cockpit displays or streamed wirelessly via Garmin Connext® to popular tablet/mobile device apps such as Garmin Pilot™, ForeFlight Mobile or FltPlan Go. The ADS-B weather link is continuously broadcast on the 978 MHz Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) frequency and is similar to the basic services offered by leading commercial satellite weather providers. For example, crews can access NEXRAD imagery, METARs, TAFs, winds and temperatures aloft, PIREPs, NOTAMs and more, while in-flight. In addition, ADS-B traffic position reports (and threat-level symbology) can help pilots identify and avoid targets in busy airspace. Spoken audio alerts from GTX 345R also call out potential flight path conflicts (“Traffic, 10 o’clock, same altitude, 2 miles”) to get pilots looking in the right direction.
Add Navigation and More
For added capability on select aircraft, owners and operators now have an option to upgrade to our GTN™ 750/650 series of touchscreen navigators while their ADS-B equipment is being installed. The GTN upgrade provides a GPS navigator with multifunction display capabilities, including high-resolution terrain mapping, graphical flight planning, frequency lookup, georeferenced electronic charts, traffic target surveillance, multiple weather display options, taxiway diagrams, autopilot interface, full WAAS LPV approach capability and other high-value technology options to help pilots make quicker, smarter, better decisions in all phases of flight.
